Still Life -- Naturaleza muerta

I continue to enjoy arranging compositions for still life paintings. Below you can find one from last year, mainly with fruits, and my first still life finished this 2015. This last one I title: "Something to cry about." I suppose it is not hard to understand the humorous title. If you cook frequently, you know what I mean!

By the way, I apologize for the poor quality of my pictures, today is cloudy (another poor excuse, I suppose :=) Both paintings are available at the moment of this publication. If you are interested, please, feel free to contact me.

Continúo disfrutando arreglar composiciones de naturaleza muerta para pintar. Acá debajo encuentran una que pinté el año pasado y mi primera naturaleza muerta del 2015. A esta última la titulé, de manera jocosa, "Para hacerte llorar." Si usted cocina con cierta frecuencia sabrá de inmediato a qué me refiero.

Por cierto, pido disculpas por la calidad pobre de las fotos, hoy está nublado (una excusa poco válida supongo :=) Ambas pinturas están disponibles al momento de publicar este. Si usted está interesado(a) en adquirirlas, no dude en contactarme.

Tangerines, Papaya and Pomegranate -- Tangerinas, papaya y granada

I painted  this still life directly from life, featuring fruits available not only in South Florida, but from my own back yard! I enjoy the beauty of their colors, aromas, and textures. It is an oil painting on canvas, 16 x 20 in. It is available, $800.

Pinté este bodegón directo del natural, destacando algunas frutas comunes no sólo en el sur de la Florida sino que también en el terreno de mi propia casa. Me encantó la belleza de sus colores, sus aromas y texturas. Es un oleo sobre lienzo, 40 cm x 50.5 cm. Disponible por US$800.

Some of these are "almost" finished... even if I have already signed them (!) I  still might add a touch here and there to improve the drawing or I might add a final glazing, usually if I consider that it will enhance the aerial perspective or strengthen the unity of the elements.

Estas pinturas están casí terminadas... pero es posible que todavía retoque aquí o allá para mejorar el dibujo o que les aplique una veladura final. Esta última, particularmente, si luego de dejarlos unos días o semanas sin verlos, considero que una veladura mejorará la perspectiva atmosférica o que ayudará a unificar la composición.

"This is my third art piece showed at the recent Coral Spring Museum of Art Lobby Show. It is acrylic on canvas, 14in x 18in/ 36cm x 45.5 cm.

Several years ago I wanted to explore painting a still life that not only could express the mass of the elements depicted, but to be able to achieve that predominantly through lines. This is the result. Intentionally, and to promote the unity of the work, I left seveal areas in which is noticeable the orange imprimatura "breathing."

Este es la tercera de mis pinturas que participaron en la exposición del Museo de arte de Coral Springs, FL. Es pintura acrílica sobre lienzo, 36cm x 45.5cm.  Hace algunos años quise ver cuál sería el resultado de pintar un bodegón/naturaleza muerta en el que lograra captar no tan solo el volumen de los elementos pintados, sino que al hacerlo lo expresara mediante el predominio de líneas. Este cuadro es el resultado. Para facilitar la unidad compositiva de la obra he dejado que en múltiples áreas "respire" la imprimatura naranja.

Floral arrangement-Still life /Arreglo Floral-Bodegón

This still life consists of a floral arrangement on top of a chair, glowing with bright colors and strong brushwork. It was painted directly from nature using the "alla prima" (wet over wet) technique, and an impressionist palette. After letting the painting dry properly during years, it was finished with Damar Varnish for extra protection adding to it future conservation.

Este bodegón consiste en un arreglo floral sobre una silla destacando colores intensos y pinceladas firmes. Fue pintado observando directamente el natural y empleando la técnica húmedo sobre húmedo ("alla prima"). Tras haberlo dejado secar durante años
hemos aplicado barniz de damar para proteger la obra y mejorar su conservación
futura.
